Book 44: Reached

The Pilot. The Poet. The Physic. What a way to end it! Man I was on one of those little roller coasters chapter by chapter. The Society. The Rising. The Pilot. The Plague. So much capitalization. But yes I really really liked that Cassia was not immune to the Plague/red pills. It made her more relatable and less of the superbrain that she is. And her trying to remember the red garden day. Ughhh. Bram grew up so much, I want more Bram! And Lei, Lei, Lei. Ally Condie you sly girl you. I don’t have a favorite part or line here, but it’s okay, I loved the book as a whole. 🙂 But throughout the whole series, Cassia was definitely my favorite, then Ky, and then all the others are jumbled together. Haha. Although I don’t dab in most poetry, I shall end this post with one of my favorite poems, since poems played such a large role in the series.

Fire and Ice

by Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Book 39: Crossed

crossedCrossed (Matched #2)  by Ally Condie

The sequel is just as good as the first book! We step out of the Society and into the wilderness. It also wavers between Cassia and Ky’s point of view. Although I do have to say it I only noticed around chapter 25 that it said on the top whose point of view the chapter was going to be in. Okay new characters like-o-meter. Vick. ok. Eli. liked his youth and fire. Indie. Unsure (liked the female companionship, but hmmmm need further time to dwell.) Hunter. Meh. Society in the caves, what are they doing! When I read that scene, the movie Ultraviolet popped into my head, is something similar going to be happening? And Xander’s secret. OH MY GOD. And Cassia in the Capitol! Shady dealings with Archivist. Aggh. My absolute favorite scene/part of the book has to be pages 192-194.

“I turn and in the last of the evening light I see her.

Is this real?

She points to the sky.

Two little dark figures, looking up.

Is it him?

This far away, there’s only one way to know.

I point to the sky.

For a moment, nothing happens. The figure stands still and I stand cold and alive and-

He starts to run.”

ahhhh I loved how she just cut it off and so many emotions and ugh I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

Book 31: Matched

I loved this book!!!! I know that I am late to join the bandwagon but better late than never right? The matching system was very reminiscent of the movie Timer (which I also really really liked). And you know what I have to honestly say that I wouldn’t mind those “instant soul mate” systems, well I mostly wouldn’t mind them. But that is just the silly girl that I am. Back to the book. This is kind of superficial but I loved the names of the characters. Cassia. Ky. Xander. Bram. Haaha And I love Dystopian/Futuristic novels, just to see how others visualize a world.  But goodness all of Ky’s smoulder. Ahhhh. I was and am very Pro-Ky. He was just such a good boyfriend candy. I cannot wait to read what happens in the next few books.  And I liked Cassia she was not super whiny “woe is me” gal, but she wasn’t perfect (however the Society tried to make her be).  Furthermore I can see the use of love triangle, but mostly it just annoys me.  So the trianglish-ness of this book I approve of and like.

P.S. They had a Sisyphus reference! Love it. 🙂
