Book 55: The Scorch Trials

9 Jul

The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner

I didn’t really like this book. I felt like it didn’t really flow as well as I should have. And I really didn’t like all the romance drama. It was very bleh. I want more dystopia world drama! I’m in no ways a Teresa/Thomas shipper, but Brenda just annoyed me. And now she can also talk telepathically with Thomas. eh. I did like the revelation of a group B. Girls rule, figured out the maze faster and had fewer casualties. But other than that,I don’t have really all that much to say about the sequel.

Book 32: The Kill Order

This is the prequel to the Maze Runner. It focuses on the teenage Mark, and his life after the flares. I liked the juxtaposition of Mark’s present circumstances, with his initial circumstances right when the flares hit(especially that he remembers those memories when he is dreaming). But I also felt that when I was reading this, Mark was not a teenager, I had to remind myself that “oh yeah he’s only seventeen.” Which is not a bad thing, considering he went through a world apocalypse, so he’s probably a bit more mature than your average seventeen year old boy. But yes good book, and am excited to continue on this Maze journey.

P.S. The cover is pretty cool, and fitting ne?

Book 29: The Maze Runner

The Maze RunnerThe Maze Runner by James Dashner

Dystopia. Dystopia. Dystopia. Why does the whole world going to hell, fascinate me so much. But I do love these kind of stories. When these young adults have to live on their own and create their own society, oh so good. This Glade-topia and the way they delegated the tasks was very The Colony like. Which is a thumbs up from my point of view. Thomas was an interesting guy to be sure. I didn’t hate him but he didn’t rile up the fangirl inside of me. But I did like Teresa, but then again being the only girl may have something to do with that. Now I own the next two books, but for those who have already read the whole series, are the .5 and 1.5 books really important in the reading? Because I don’t got the moolah or time to get those books when I have the sequel sitting right on my bookshelf.

“If you’re going to decipher a hidden code from a complex set of different mazes, I’m pretty sure you need a girl’s brain running the show.” (279)

Maybe we were lovers, Teresa said. Thomas tripped and crashed to the ground.” (283)
